The purpose of this discussion is to open wider public discussion about the role of the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman, hoping we will offer a significant support in terms of content to the forthcoming process of amending the Law on Ombudsman for Human Rights.

The Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman in Bosnia and Herzegovina is central independent institution for protection and promotion of human rights. Process Institution’s independent development started with connecting entity and national institutions of human rights ombudsmen in one body and electing the three ombudsmen in 2009. Since 2009, the Institution had its development and different experiences.

The year 2015 in this context represents a milestone. Not only that there will be new nominations of three Ombudsmen, but a proposal of the new Law on the Human Rights Ombudsman and the re-accreditation of the Institution of the United Nations are imminent , but this year.

What can be expected in this context? What are the obstacles which the Ombudsman Institution is facing? What solutions are proposed by the ministry? What is the position of international organizations and civil society organizations? These are just some of the issues on which we will discuss with our panelists.

An invitation to the discussion and attendance will be submitted to the: representatives and delegates of Parliamentary Assembly (members and Secretary of the Joint Committee on Human Rights Parliamentary Assembly of BiH), representatives and delegates of the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as representatives of the National Assembly of RS, representatives of relevant ministries at the state and entity level, representatives of nternational community in BiH, civil society organizations working on these issues, as well as the media.

A simultaneous translation into English is provided.
The press statements will be given after the discussion (after 12 pm).
